The receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE) is a multiligand member of the immunoglobulin superfamily of cell surface molecules. It mediates interactions of advanced glycation end products (AGE), the products of nonenzymatic glycoxidation of proteins/lipids that accumulate in the plasma and tissues of patients with diabetes.

sRAGE: soluble RAGE, 可溶性RAGE：

除全長的RAGE外，還有兩種剪切體，一種是N末端剪切體，功能不詳；一種是C末端剪切體，缺乏跨膜區(qū)，分泌在血漿中，系可溶性形式，也叫esRAGE (endogenous secretory RAGE)。sRAGE能結(jié)合AGEs等配體，阻止其與膜上的全長RAGE結(jié)合，從而阻斷其信號傳導(dǎo)通路導(dǎo)致的血管損害作用，同時有助于AGEs等配體的降解排出。因此sRAGE具有血管保護作用，能負向調(diào)節(jié)AGEs受體依賴的致病作用。體內(nèi)RAGE剪切體的水平存在個體差異，這使糖尿病患者對血管病變的發(fā)生具有不同的易感性。   

臨床上，sRAGE水平降低是炎癥控制缺失或者失調(diào)的標志物，與心血管疾病相關(guān)。在高血壓病人中，sRAGE水平與血壓負相關(guān)。而在腎病末期及急性肺損傷病人血清中，sRAGE水平明顯升高。
